As I drove into the southern entrance of my manufactured-home park, I spotted a man of Asian ancestry lumbering toward me, struggling under the unyielding weight of a well-used queen-size mattress. I remember this distinctly because another car was heading my way on our Lilliputian street, coming from the same direction as the mattress man. The other driver and I waited patiently as the middle-aged fellow lugged his cumbersome load. If you’ve ever carried a large mattress by yourself, you know what an incredible pain in the pillow top this can be.
