Apparently So by David Price

Inside this book are 42 of David’s favorite shorter articles. They include humorous tales such as getting into a drunken fistfight with one of his cats or how to survive an elevator crash from dozens of floors above the ground. Also included are clever poems, beautifully illustrated by his artist friends, Alex Carr and Mira Dabrowski. There are also poignant tales of his recent cancer diagnosis, his overcoming alcoholism and addiction, and a lovely tale of how he and his Brazilian wife found each other when they lived 7,500 miles away. Down in the Dumps

As I drove into the southern entrance of my manufactured-home park, I spotted a man of Asian ancestry lumbering toward me, struggling under the unyielding weight of a well-used queen-size mattress. I remember this distinctly because another car was heading my way on our Lilliputian street, coming from the same direction as the mattress man. The other driver and I waited patiently as the middle-aged fellow lugged his cumbersome load. If you’ve ever carried a large mattress by yourself, you know what an incredible pain in the pillow top this can be.
